OUR PLANS FOR A SAFER COLCHESTER

Planning where you want to get to, how, with what and knowing when you have arrived is essential to all of us in our daily lives. It is the same set of principles that makes it vital for the Colchester Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership to understand when setting our plans for a safer Colchester. However, our plans do not exist in isolation and increasingly we are required to work with plans and challenging targets from central government, regionally government agencies and at a county level.

A variety of information has been provided in this section to help you access the wide range of plans that guide and direct the crime reduction work in Colchester.

Our 4 Key Priorities for Colchester are linked to the following:

1 TO REDUCE CRIME BY 18.5% BY MARCH 2008.
2 TO REASSURE THE PUBLIC, REDUCING THE FEAR OF CRIME AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR.
3 TO REDUCE THE HARM CAUSED BY ILLEGAL DRUGS AND ALCOHOL MISUSE.
4 TO INCREASE VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ESPECIALLY AMONGST THOSE AT RISK OF SOCIAL EXCLUSION.

If you have any questions, require further information or would like to join our work please contact Peter Carrington at peter.carrington@colchester.gov.uk
