CRIME PREVENTION & REDUCTION

In the Colchester Police District, Eastern Division, Essex Police, the role of the Crime Reduction Officer is “To Reduce Crime, Reduce the Fear of Crime and to Improve the Quality of Life”. This is achieved by adopting the current Colchester Crime Reduction Strategy 2005-2008, working within the Colchester Community Safety Partnership based at Colchester Police Station and engaging with the Community throughout Colchester.

The role of Architectural Liaison Officer combines with that of the Crime Reduction Officer and relates to “Designing out Crime”. This is predominantly a proactive role, achieved by engaging with Architects, Designers and Planning Officers etc., and adopting the principles of Secured by Design.
