BUSINESS CRIME

The CDRP views reducing business crime as a priority as every community needs the employment and investment opportunities that businesses create. Colchester CDRP has funded or obtained additional funding for several business projects. Colchester Business Against Crime is a ‘not for profit’ organisation that brings together agencies to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour against the business community in Colchester. There will be a basic membership fee plus the additional cost of the radio(s) (if required). Costs will be kept to a minimum and will represent outstanding value and cost effectiveness compared with the benefits to business. The aim of the Partnership is to reduce business crime in the Borough and make the trading environment safer for customers, visitors, staff and residents.

COLBAC objectives:

• Reduce crime in and around the business environment.
• Operate on tried and tested methods.
• Be cost effective.
• Be an integral part of Colchester’s crime reduction strategy.


COLBAC will:

• Collate share and disseminate information more effectively using IT.
• Provide photographs of persistent offenders and the methods they use.
• Produce updates and newsletters to members.
• Reduce and prevent criminality and anti-social behaviour.
• Assist in the apprehension and prosecution of offenders.
• Help manage an enhanced radio link system.
• Manage the Exclusion Notice Scheme for members.
• Decrease the fear of crime.
• Offer training and best practice advice.
• Encourage growth and inward investment in the borough.
